NOT SO BASIC CHRISTIANITY ANSWERS THE TOUGH QUESTIONS

WHY DID GOD DECIDE TO FELLOWSHIP WITH MAN?

Before the foundations of the Universe was conceived, God desired fellowship. And nothing existed except God. This Holy desire sparked God to take a blank sheet of paper (figuratively speaking) and plan the perfect lifeforms and the perfect universe to fully accomplish His will. God planned His creation in stunning detail too vast for us to understand. God elected (planned and made choices) all things and when completed, He spoke and all life, the Universe, and all things came into existence.

Man was created for eternal fellowship with God. Man was created so God could love us, spend time with us, enjoy us and lavish gifts upon us. God wanted to share His richness and eternal existence with us. The Bible tells us that God was pleased with His creation and declared all His creation as “very Good” This meant there was not a single flaw in man nor anything He created. Therefore God rested on the seventh day. His work was done, His desire was being realized and God fellowshipped first with Adam, and then Adam and Eve.

WHAT DOES GOD WANT?

When I was ten years old, my father, a career military officer, was stationed in Germany. I attended military school and took classes to learn German. I will never forget the class on the proper ways Germans called or answered their telephones. The receiving party’s responsibility was to answer with hello and the caller’s proper responsibility was to introduce themselves, identify whom they were calling, and the purpose of the call. This is exactly how God reveals Himself to man.

The Bible begins with the simple, yet utterly profound statement, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Almighty God introduces Himself as God who created all life, the universe and all matter within. By virtue of His written Word, God is telling mankind that we are very, very special to Him and that He has planned an eternal relationship with us based on love, joy and peace. He has created all things just so He could spend eternity fellowshipping with us. This is God’s deepest desire and the “heart” of the entire gospel message.

God wants to personally know you and I and everyone who has ever existed, exists now, or will exist intimately throughout all eternity. God’s purpose in this phone call, or if you will, His Word, is to invite you to enter this special relationship with Him.

What a phone call!
