Picture of Darrell & A Summer Offer
I’ve received countless emails, cards and calls asking how I’m doing and wishing well. Many have asked to see a photo and others are asking exactly what is my weight loss program. And then many of you have undergone the same procedure I have and have been a tremendous blessing to me in making a decision for the operation and throughout my recovery. I have four more weeks of recovery.
In the words of one who wrote me this past week, “It’s the scariest, best decision I’ve ever made.”
I think the results speak for themselves. What do you think?

I’ll answer the questions about the weight loss procedure at the end of the email. As I said yesterday, I’ve lost 78 pounds in a little over a year with 130 pounds to go for my goal of 180. I now weigh less than I’ve ever weighed in the past 15 years. I hope to be under 300 pounds before the end of July.
To celebrate my weight loss and my doctor allowing me to work a couple of hours a day, I’ve been busy putting together four new paintings which I’ll share with you right now. These paintings will be on the YouCanPaintClub.com site within a week. I realized during this week that I have never made film on painting weighing this little. So I’m really jazzed right now.
The first painting is Nature’s Boquet. Poppies, Daisies and lots and lots of wildflower clusters. I first did a painting with Gary Jenkins using the wildflower clusters and just loved it and thought you’d love it as well. They’re extremely easy to do and quite beautiful. One of my favorite pastimes is my deck gardening. I have fourty pots of flowers spread throughout the deck. This gave me the inspiration to put together Nature’s Boquet. You can order this painting individually at our regular price of $24.95, or you can obtain it below at an unheard of special offer.

One of the things I like most about painting is we have absolute freedom to design the paintings anyway we wish. So I decided to go to the Sierra Nevada mountains for the next two paintings. At the end of my freshman year of college I decided to take a close friend on a tour of the backlands between Truckee and Lake Tahoe. This is one of the most dangerous highways in all of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. At times the speed limit is 2 or 3 mph. You know if someone posts a 2 mph speed limit around a corner, they’re not kidding. It’s not driving, it’s slightly letting up on the brake as you maneuver from one curve to the next. So I’ve put together two paintings of scenes I saw during that trip.
They’re companion pieces.

In other words, they’ve been designed so that they could be hung closely together and look like they do belong together. In this instance, I used color to be the element that would bind the paintings together.
Other examples of companion pieces would be one scene in different weather or seasonal environment, or a single scene spread across multiple canvases.
Sierra Mountain and Sierra Waterfall are the first companion pieces I’ve designed and you can purchase them for $24.95 each or ……… wait for the special offer below.
To round out the offering I realized that Fall is really only about 8 weeks away. For those of you who really enjoy the colors fall gives us each year as we prepare to embrace another winter, I offer to you Autumn Mountain. When I went to the University of Nevada, (way, way, way back in the 60’s), I would often spend the weekends driving to Carson City, Virginia City, Yosemite or Lake Tahoe and sightseeing. My favorite times were Summer and Fall. And in memory of those fabulous youthful pursuits I give you Autumn Mountain.

You may purchase this painting for $24.95 or acquire it through our special offer.
OK.
You want to know all about the special offer?
You can have all four DVDs that talks about how to paint these DVDs for one low price. At my regular price of $24.95, this is a value of $99.90. And they’re well worth this price.
But, and only until Wed., I will offer all four of these paintings for $37.00 plus $2.00 shipping. That’s $39.00 total. Just a fraction of what you’ll pay after Wed.
AND…..
I love doing this…..
On Wednesday, we’ll have a drawing.
The winner will receive any of the four paintings they choose.
Wow.

To answer all of the questions about the weight loss program I’ve been undergoing here’s the plan.
I first attended about a year and a half ago an overview seminar from two different hospitals regarding their surgical operations for weight reduction. They’re apparently are two basic operations. One is a band that can be wrapped around the stomach that makes it smaller and can be removed at a later date after one has reached their goals. I did not choose this approach as many of the people who’d undergone this surgery still looked overweight to me. The other operation was the Gastric By-Pass in which they actually make your stomach smaller and rewire your intestines and stomach. It takes longer to recover and many of the people I’d talked to who had undergone this surgery had lost their weight and they looked great.
At the time I visited the hospital, I was suffering from heart disease, neuropathy, high blood pressure, high chloesterol, diabetes, and non-healing wounds. I was in a wheel chair trying to recover from my wounds. I did not look well and I was up to 388 pounds. (Yikes….that’s so close to 400).
I had to lose 50 pounds so the surgeon would have room to perform the operation.
I had to attend special classes to learn how to lose the 50 pounds carefully.
The diet they put me on was a high fibre, low-cholesterol diet.
I had to exercise in order to prepare for the operation and begin a new life of being ‘fit’.
After dropping to 338, surgery was scheduled and 2 1/2 weeks ago I went through the surgery. I now weigh 309 pounds.
My diet is one of clear liquids and a 4 oz protein drink every 2 hours.
Next Tuesday, 3 weeks after the operation, I see the dietician who will decide if I can move to the next level of introducing more solid foods or remain on this liquid protein diet.
As soon as I’m able, I’ll be going back to the gym for workouts. I will have to regain my fitness and I’ll have to exercise to tighten up my skin. If I don’t do this, I’ll be facing surgery to remove excess skin. To be honest with you, I’ve seen enough hospitals for right now.
My biggest asset has been the outpouring of well wishes from all my students.
Take care and thanks to all of you…..
